Reflections from September 18

On the 24th July this year, Mothers’ Union celebrate 90 years in our Rayleigh Branch. Wow 90 years 1928 – 2018. There is a need to celebrate many years of meeting together, friendship and above all praying and helping others in need.- June Walton.

Let us pray for all those people who feel alone, afraid and depressed. We cannot help everyone, but if each one of us helped someone today, even if we only pray for them, they are sure to be comforted. Joan Vine

In a book entitled ‘A History of the Mothers’ Union’ by Cordelia Moyse, (Boydell Press) Ms Moyse goes into Mary Sumner’s background and endeavours to explain the motivation that lead to the Mothers’ Union being started up.

At a time of serious flooding let us pray for the people of Myanmar during the relief efforts and to all those Mothers’ Union members and young people who are doing all they can to support those who have lost everything.

St Ambrose died peacefully on Good Friday April 4th, 397. For several hours before his death he lay with his arms extended as if on a cross, then, after receiving the sacraments from St Honoratus, Bishop of Vercelli, he died.
