Our President Judith Meaden and a congregation of almost 50 people where at St Catherine’s in Gosfield, to help the Gosfield Branch of the MU celebrate their 80th Anniversary along with the 140th Anniversary of the Mothers’ Union.
Lay Reader Terry Streamer who is the MU Deanery Chaplain led the lovely service which included some beautiful hymns that were chosen by the MU members, along with the Admission Service of Pauline.
After a short sermon by Terry, Val Perry went forward to give a short talk about their Mothers’ Union group. Val invited Prim Rayner to read the lovely poem she had written for this special occasion. Val continued her talk saying how hard their MU group had worked to keep it going especially after the health problems and eventual demise of Beryl Watson who had been their faithful Mothers’ Union leader for many years, however, the group had kept going even though they didn’t have an official leader as such, but managed to run their group successfully between Val, Prim Rayner and Mary Hall in fact all the members have a part in running the group,.
After the service we spent time admiring the beatiful blue and white flower arrangement by Mary Hull before gathering in the North side of the church not only to sample the tasty celebration cake made by Marian Colyer but to have refreshments, a good chat and a buffet tea. Thank you Gosfield Branch we had a lovely day
