A few weeks ago, one of our clergy put out a notice in church saying we could sign up to go as a party to see the film Mary Magdalene in early April. It was to be shown at one of the local cinemas in Chelmsford. She said that she wasn’t sure which cinema would be showing the film but if a few people would like to go, once she knew numbers she would make further arrangements. I was keen to go, as the film sounded good, but I was to be very disappointed as a few weeks later our Revd Julie said that she was sorry but she had been in touch with the local cinemas and even some other cinemas further afield only to be told that they were not intending to show the film of Mary Magdalene as they didn’t think there would be enough interest! – Such a shame.
The official Mothers’ Union website has a very interesting article regarding the film see it here: http://www.mothersunion.org/mary-magdalene - Were you can also acquire an accompanying booklet that you can download. The downloadable booklet consists of eight colourful pages that can be printed out but if you would like a ready printed booklet for your branch please call MSH on +44 (0)20 7222 5533 but you can only have one copy per branch.
If you are fortunate enough to get to see the film of Mary Magdalene, I would love to hear from you. If you send an article with your thoughts on the film, roughly 250-300 words I would be delighted to upload it onto the website. Send your article on the film ‘Mary Magdalene’ to firstname.lastname@example.org I look forward to hearing from you – Joan
